At the heart of the Buddha’s teaching is the insight that freedom and awakening are possible only through dissolving attachment. It is attachment in its myriad forms, whether material, emotional, or intellectual, that locks us inside suffering and subverts our attempts at authentic spiritual practice. In this retreat, Lama Jampa Thaye will guide us through one of the essential teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, “Parting with the Four Attachments.”

Lama Jampa Thaye is a scholar and meditation master trained in the Sakya and Karma Kagyu traditions of Buddhism and authorized as a lama by his two masters, Karma Thinley Rinpoche and H.H. Sakya Trizin. Lama Jampa is the founder of the Dechen association of Buddhist centers, under the spiritual authority of Karma Thinley Rinpoche. Lama Jampa Thaye is the author of various works including Garland of Gold (1990), Way of Tibetan Buddhism (2001) and Rain of Clarity (2006). He holds a doctorate from the University of Manchester for his work on Tibetan religious history and has lectured for over twenty years at the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.
