Thay

(UPDATED)

Thich Nhat Hanh has been hospitalized with a lung infection. He is doing well and is expected to recover. We join with millions of others wishing him a speedy healing process. He is visiting the U.S. You can see his tour dates here.

Thich Nhat Hanh (“Thay” to his followers) is known all over the world for his gentle yet brave words. His outspokenness has put him on the world stage again and again. Here he is on miracles:

“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child—our own two eyes. All is a miracle.”

He was in the news recently for the situation in Vietnam where his disciples were evicted from Bat Nha Monastery. Thay has returned to Vietnam, his home country, several times after being banned for many years.
