Since the universe began, different species and forms of life have been striving to find comfort and happiness and to overcome suffering. Every living being searches for ways to free itself from suffering and to find love, peace, and joy. All that we do arises from this natural desire to love and be loved, to feel safe and secure, and to be happy and at peace. This is a constant in everyone’s life.

In late January, we were very blessed to have the great Buddhist scholar, teacher, and author Losang Samten come by the office for a visit. A master of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, meditation, and ritual arts (he is one of the most highly revered sand painters in the world), he is spiritual director of Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia, Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Middletown, Connecticut, and Chenrezig Himalayan Cultural Center of El Paso, Texas.

During his visit, Samten kindly agreed to speak with us about his new book, Ancient Teachings in Modern Times, and give a brief teaching. Here is a video of the talk,
