James H. Austin

James H. Austin is an emeritus professor of neurology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a Zen practitioner. He is the author of the award-winning Zen and the Brain: Toward an Understanding of Meditation and Consciousness (1998) and, most recently, Living Zen Remindfully: Retraining Subconscious Awareness (2016). He has authored or coauthored more than 140 publications in neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, and clinical neurology.
