Making Friends with Ourselves

In the Shambhala Buddhist tradition, there is a saying, “Unless we understand the nature of fear, we cannot know fearlessness.” Beginning September 6th, Gaylon Ferguson, Ph.D, will outline a step-by-step approach to engage fear as a direct path to transforming ourselves and our world. Read Gaylon’s retreat introduction from the Fall 2011 issue of Tricycle here.

A student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, Gaylon Ferguson is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage and a professor at Naropa University. He has been leading retreats for 35 years and is the author of Natural Wakefulness: Discovering the Wisdom We Were Born With (2009) and the forthcoming book, Natural Bravery: Fear and Fearlessness as Path to Awakening Society (2012).
