Demystifying Jhana: A Premium Event with Sarah Shaw

On Tuesday, August 19, at 12:00 p.m. ET, join scholar Sarah Shaw to learn about jhana, the often overlooked or misunderstood state of meditative absorption. While vipassana, or insight, practice became widespread in late-19th-century Myanmar and later internationally, the practice of samatha, or calm abiding, which is the foundation of jhana, was often marginalized. With interest in jhana, or the jhana factors, making a comeback, learn more about the foundations, the story behind its relative obscurity, and how jhana is developed.

This event is free for Tricycle Premium subscribers and $10 for general admission. Subscribe to Premium or upgrade your existing subscription for free access.
