It’s always interesting to read about Buddhism in the mainstream press. Some of it’s great, some not so great. Reuters recently ran a “Fact Box” on the Dalai Lama, China and Taiwan, in anticipation of the Dalai Lama’s visit to the latter and the Chinese hackles his planned visit is raising.
That’s not what caught my eye, though. The first fact Reuters includes contains a reference to a Tibetan belief in a reincarnating soul. Any Buddhist would flinch. But how to explain reincarnation?
