Data and SEO Specialist

The Tricycle Foundation, publisher of Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, the leading independent journal of Buddhism in the West, is currently seeking a Data and SEO specialist to lead the efforts in web analytics and site optimization to reach Tricycle’s audience and subscription base goals.

The Data and SEO specialist will lead Tricycle’s efforts in gaining better understanding of our readership and improving the performance of our digital properties, which include our main website, tricycle.org, and our e-learning platform, learn.tricycle.org. He or she should have experience working with analytics tools and large datasets as well as mining user insights and constructing A/B tests. The team will rely on you to build upon our SEO and analytics efforts, to identify trends and solutions for growth, and stay on top of emerging publishing trends. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in web analytics and SEO as well as familiarity with the publishing industry and data analysis.

Duties include:

  • Leading our efforts in web analytics and site optimization as well as sharing best SEO and web practice with the team
  • Producing performance reports and action plans based on insights from the data to improve site traffic and acquisitions in different channels on a weekly basis
  • Make recommendations based on changes and trends in SEO and the publishing industry
  • Identifying areas for growth and performance improvement as well as devising plans for A/B tests
  • Optimizing the method of data collection and web analytics to enhance the quality of data
  • Applying new changes and working with the developer to improve site features

Requirements and Personal Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and technical requirements with the ability to implement and/or work with a developer and our fulfillment house
  • Minimum one year’s experience with web analytics, site optimization, and SEO for digital media sites preferred; familiarity with subscription-based magazine’s business model a plus
  • Four-year college degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related area of study, or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, and as a part of a team
  • A demonstrated ability to produce consistent high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in Buddhism and/or familiarity with the modern Buddhist landscape a plus
