The leaders of Burma’s pro-democracy protests may face seven years in jail. The EU wants newly democratic Thailand’s help with the Burma crisis. This summer Thailand will take over the presidency of ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. And the Burmese army offensive against rebel ethnic groups worsens the humanitarian situation in eastern Burma. Bush voices support for democracy in Burma, and a bunch of other countries. China reports bird-flu in Tibet. And be careful about emails with news of Tibet: Microsoft Word documents that can harm your computer are making the rounds. Names used on the emails include the following:

  • 2007-07 DRAFT Tibetan MP London schedule.doc
  • DIRECTORY OF TIBET SUPPORT GROUPS IN INDIA.doc
  • Disapppeared [sic] in Tibet.doc
