Richard K. Payne

Richard K. Payne is Yehan Numata Professor of Japanese Buddhist Studies at the Institute of Buddhist Studies, Berkeley, and a member of the core doctoral faculty of the Graduate Theological Union. He trained in Japan and received ordination as a priest in the Shingon tradition, which continues to be the main focus of his research and practice.
