John Blofeld (1913–1987) was a scholar, writer, and translator of Asian philosophy and religion, especially Buddhism and Taoism. His many books include The Zen Teaching of Huang Po: On the Transmission of Mind (1958); The Wheel of Life: The Autobiography of a Western Buddhist (1959); and Bodhisattva of Compassion: The Mystical Tradition of Kwan Yin (1970).
