Shaped like a golden, spaceship-like dome, Wat Phra Dhammakaya is the largest, wealthiest—and most controversial—Buddhist temple in Thailand. With millions of followers, it has become both an icon of Thai Buddhism and a global pilgrimage site. But in 2016, its abbot was charged with money laundering and acquisition of stolen properties, sparking a dramatic standoff between the military government and the temple’s devoted followers. Come and See offers an investigative portrayal of the clash, exploring themes of politics and religion, power and corruption, belief and blind faith.
