It’s a busy day here at Tricycle! Here’s what’s new this Monday:
-
Bonnie Myotai Treace’s Tricycle Retreat, “Whole Life Offering,” heads into its fourth and final week with the teaching, “Just One Small Bowl: The Boundless Body.” You can visit her retreat here, and watch the first video of her retreat here. The first videos of Tricycle Retreats are always available to all. Next month’s retreat will feature Allan Lokos, author of Pocket Peace.
-
Scholar Donald S. Lopez, Jr. is discussing his book In the Forest of Faded Wisdom: 104 Poems of Gendun Chopel in the Tricycle Community Poetry Club. Often referred to as Tibet’s first modern artist and Tibet’s greatest modern poet, Gendun Chopel lived an adventurous life, laid out for you by Dr. Lopez above the discussion.
-
Vipassana teacher Rodney Smith discusses the concept of anatta, or no-self, which often confounds Western students in the Tricycle Community Book Club. In his new book Stepping Out of Self-Deception: The Buddha’s Liberating Teaching of No-Self, Smith says that without a thorough acceptance of anatta, progress along a spiritual path will be misguided or illusory.
- Our Fall 2010 issue will soon be online! Keep your eyes peeled…
