Embracing the Spiritual Community

Grappling with the insecurity, conflict, and violence of the world today is no easy feat. At times, it can seem like spiritual practice is useless in the face of it all. But the “dis-ease” or dukkha of the social world is a mirror of what we experience in our personal lives, says Ruben L. F. Habito, a former Jesuit priest turned Zen master. In this series, Habito will show you the relationship between practice and the positive effects it can have on ourselves and others if we develop it diligently. When we cultivate an understanding of our interrelatedness with others, it becomes easier for us to alleviate the suffering we witness in the world, and we are better able to respond to concrete situations in our individual and social lives.
