From August 9th to 14th, 2010, the Zen Peacemakers will be hosting “The First Symposium for Western Socially Engaged Buddhism”, in Montague, MA. It will be a gathering of leading Western activist practitioners, sponsors, and academics in this ever-important and growing field. Christopher Queen is an organizer of the Symposium, a lecturer on the study of religion at Harvard, and the author of four books; Action Dharma: New Studies in Engaged Buddhism (with Charles Prebish and Damien Keown), Engaged Buddhism in the West, American Buddhism: Methods and Findings in Recent Scholarship (with Duncan Ryuken Williams), and Engaged Buddhism: Buddhist Liberation Movements in Asia (with Sallie B.
