Francis Dojun Cook (1930–2006) was a professor of Buddhist studies at University of California, Riverside, and the director of translations at the Institute for Transcultural Studies in Los Angeles. In addition to How to Raise an Ox: Zen Practice as Taught in Master Dogen's Shobogenzo, Cook also wrote Hua-yen Buddhism: The Jewel Net of Indra.
