Complaints over the monotony of our daily routines—wake, work, sleep, repeat—are endemic to modern life. Yet far more important than the habits of our actions are the habits of our minds: we react time and time again in the same old limited, predictable ways, getting dragged deeper into the very patterns we want to move away from. In this online retreat, the Thai forest nuns Ayya Santacitta and Ayya Anandabodhi show us how to abandon the “same ol’ ” by turning toward all our experience completely and openly.

Ayya Santacitta and Ayya Anandabodhi have been nuns for over 20 years. Together they run Aloka Vihara, a training monastery for women in the Sierra foothills of California. Read our interview with them in the Winter 2014 issue of Tricycle here. Visit the Saranaloka website here.
